Evening Ride at Knox Mountain with Mountain Lifestyle’s KHS 5500 Trail Bikes
Kelowna, BC is a paradise for outdoor lovers, especially during the summer months when the city comes alive with hikers, beachgoers, and mountain bikers alike. If you're visiting and mountain biking is on your list of things to try, Mountain Lifestyle has everything you need—from premium rentals to insider knowledge of the local trails.
Trail Time: Knox Mountain
Last night, we headed out to Knox Mountain, one of Kelowna's most accessible and scenic riding spots, to put the KHS 5500 trail bikes from Mountain Lifestyle to the test. Just minutes from downtown and right next to Okanagan Lake, Knox offers a little bit of everything for all ability levels—along with stunning views that make every climb worth it.
The 30-minute ride to the top gave us a good warm-up, with plenty of chances to stop and take in the panoramic views of the city and lake.
The Bikes: KHS 5500 Acoustic Trail Machines
We chose the acoustic (non-electric) KHS 5500s, a solid trail bike with 140mm front and 130mm rear travel—and they handled everything we threw at them. From loose, rocky patches to flowing descents, the bikes were smooth, confidence-inspiring, and just plain fun to ride.
If you're not up for the climb, Mountain Lifestyle also offers eMTB rentals to take the edge off the elevation and get you to the good stuff faster.
The Ride: Simpson + Shale Slope
For our evening ride, we dropped into Simpson and followed it into Shale Slope, a great combo that blends flow with a few technical bits to keep things exciting. The traction was good, the corners were fast, and the scenery was unbeatable with the sun starting to set over the lake.
